Burschenschaft Alemannia is one of the oldest student fraternities at Albert Ludwigs University in Freiburg, with a tradition lasting more than 160 years.  Since our founding in 1860, Alemannia has focused on being a close-knit and successful community.  Our fraternity is recognized for its openness to the world, for tolerance, and for being independent from any religious or political affiliation. Grounded in liberalism, we have always embraced democratic principles and fundamental human rights.  An international perspective and broadmindedness are core to our fraternal world view. Our membership community enjoy friendships that last beyond our student years, over multiple generations, and around the globe.

Every member of our fraternity can expect opportunities for personal growth and responsibility.  We are proud to be a fraternity of achievers.  Alongside achievement, we enjoy a full student life, “work hard, play hard”!  Our membership welcomes male students enrolled at Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg, regardless of origin, race, or religion.
